Nexium price per pill

AstraZeneca’s decision to stop selling its drug Nexium has led to a sharp increase in sales.

The company announced Thursday that it had decided to stop selling its drug Nexium, an acid blocker that treats gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), and has been in talks about a generic version.

“The Nexium decision was a great step in the right direction. Nexium is a great medication, and we have been patient for a number of years,” said Dr. Michael J. Douglas, president of AstraZeneca.

“We are taking Nexium and we are taking a decision that is not likely to affect us as much as we would have otherwise.”

The drug was approved in Canada for patients with GERD and was first approved in the United States in 2003. AstraZeneca also is working on a generic version of the drug, called Prevacid.

AstraZeneca said Nexium is available as a 20-milligram capsule and delayed release capsules.

“The decision to stop selling the Nexium has been a good one. We have had a number of other changes to our business in recent years, including the decision to stop making new medicines,” Douglas said.

“We have been patient for a number of years. We have a long history of doing well on the market.”

AstraZeneca said Nexium is the company’s “third-quarter loss.”

In a statement, AstraZeneca said Nexium was the “right medication for patients with GERD and the right indication for the treatment of these conditions.”

Dr. Douglas, president of AstraZeneca, said the decision to stop selling Nexium, the generic version of the drug, will have a “significant impact on the company’s business in Canada.”

“The decision to stop selling Nexium is a positive step in the right direction,” Douglas said.

“The impact this decision will have on our business will depend on our ability to meet the full cost of the drug and the availability of a generic version of the drug.”

“We are taking Nexium as we have always done,” AstraZeneca said.
